I love simple projects that create an amazing looking product when you’re done. The woven stitch was chosen for this project because I wanted the blanket to have texture and no holes for little fingers and toes to get stuck. This stitch is very easy to work and it would make a great first project for someone learning to crochet.
This blanket could be worked in a variety of colors. In the sample, there are three colors in a striped pattern. This blanket would look amazing in any color combination with or without stripes. Below I have listed where to change color is you desire or you can work the whole blanket as a solid.
This simple baby blanket doesn’t take very long to work up and it makes an easy baby shower gift. Mine is currently being loved up by my 8-month-old.

Materials
- 5.5 mm crochet hook
- You will need 8 oz. of worsted weight (4) yarn of your choice.
- scissors
- yarn needle
Skill Level: Easy- repeating stitches and rows.
Measurements
The blanket measures 17″ x 24″. I like a little extra length on my baby blankets because they are perfect for cuddling and they still cover while riding in a stroller or car seat. This size works great for on the go and easy enough to fit inside a bag or purse if you need to.
If you’re looking to adjust the size of your blanket you will need an even number of chains to start.
Gauge: 18 sc + ch1 sts in 4″ and 16 rows in 4″
Stitch Abbreviations
- ch- chain
- sc- single crochet
- sp- space
